City in Crisis
City in Crisis is a short film by Louis O’Flynn about the state of Dublin City, the contrast between the housing crisis and the businesses that call the city a tax haven, all told through the lens of a skateboarder (Phil Halton) making his way through the city. It’s a poignant look at the way things are in the city I currently call home and I was delighted to be involved. At the time of writing it’s doing the rounds at film festivals all over the world.
The poster features a cropped image of Phil, his silhouette superimposed with a composite image featuring tents in the foreground with shiny office blocks and cranes just behind, showing a snapshot of the duality the film is all about.
I created some bespoke typography for the film title, which is based in the hand painted messages found on tents and homemade signage.
I also made up an animated version of the poster for promotion on social media, which features some clips from the film using the skateboarder’s silhouette as frame, and some additional social media imagery.
